About Us

Jeff Grant – Since I was a teen, I knew that God designed me for a purpose (Psalm 139) and that doing anything else with my life would be unfulfilling. God placed a desire in my heart to serve young adults, giving me the passion and creativity to reach them in a relevant way.  Read more of my story here.   Karen Grant – I have wanted to minister to young women since God drew me back to Himself in college.  Helping Jeff lead the young adult group at our church  has grown my faith and developed my confidence to teach and lead.  I believe God has blessed us and raised us up here  because He wants us to reach out to the youth of New Jersey.

Journey to Cru

Camp Brett-Endeavor: We came to fall in love with ministry while working at a Christian camp in Lebanon, NJ.  It was the first time we saw clearly how serving God was fulfilling our purpose in life and that nothing else would satisfy.

Messiah College: Both majoring in English (writing), we learned to express our thoughts in ways that would be relevant to fellow students.  Jeff also minored in Philosophy and apologetics. Spirit Force: Volunteering in this outreach team was a great way for Jeff to practice writing and directing Christian dramas and performing in dance outreach.

ICON (West Shore Evangelical Free Church): After college, Jeff and Karen were blown away to discover that young adults are responsive to the gospel if approached in a relevant manner.  It was through this group that we first felt called to reach out to this age group.

Focus (South Ridge Community Church): The first weekend back in NJ, Jeff was asked to pioneer a young adult ministry out of his home church.  Karen and Jeff volunteer-led this ministry for about 4 years.

Jersey Metro (Cru): With an aching heart to serve God in full-time Ministry, both Jeff and Karen were captured instantly by the passion of Cru when introduced to it through a Focus member.  This was the answer to years of prayer!  Even while raising support, Jeff was able to engage with some of the thousands web surfers seeking God at EveryStudent.com (800 of which choose Jesus for the first time every day).  Here are some of his conversations with them.

CruPartners: Having grown in Christ through rich experiences within the Church, it was always our desire not to minister apart from local congregations, but to help propel God’s people to reach the youth in their scope.  Trying lots of ways to get churches involved on campus, and bringing the wealth of Cru resources and strategies to one accessible place for lay people, I built a website and printable handbook that the national headquarters of Cru saw as the future they wanted to work toward across the US.  We were invited to serve out of the our ministry’s national headquarters in training churches and Cru staff across the nation how to work together and opening new doors on campuses all over the world.
